Kenneth Lee Novander, age 86, of Frankfort IL., met his Heavenly Father Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

Ken was born on December 11, 1934, in Berwyn IL., the son of Victor Gladstone Novander Jr. and Anjeanette Marie (Templeton) Novander.

Ken received his MA from DePauw University, a MS from the University of Illinois, and a JD from Chicago Kent College of Law. Ken worked for the Oakland California Recreation Department from 1958 to 1961 after which he brought his young family back to Chicago where he was employed as the Office Manager in the Law Department of the Illinois Central Railroad while attending Law school. Ken passed the Bar in 1965 and retired as a General Counsel from the Illinois Central Railroad in 2000 and continued to consult for the railroad until 2014. He was the Chairman of the Illinois Hospital Association for 13 years – the Association provided medical benefits for current and retired employees and their families. Ken also owned a Couture Bridal Salon in Orland Park for many years with his daughter Andree.

Ken is the cherished brother to Yvonne Sumption, the loving devoted husband to Amy Lucille (Wright) Novander of 64 years and the beloved father to Kenneth Edward (Cheryl) Novander, Andree Marie (James) Hancock and Amy Lisa (John) Hojnacki; proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren - Ken Winn Novander Jr. (Ashley), Carol Anne (Jason) Nally, Alisa Marie (Matt) Filipiak, Dana Louise Hojnacki, Samantha Amy Hojnacki, Corey Campbell Novander, Paige Adel Novander, Kyle James Hancock, Coleton, Parker and Elijah Nally.

Ken loved his Lord deeply and was a very caring man who opened his home to countless people over the years in need of a home and family. He touched the lives of many and was always available to lend support, advice, and friendship. He will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, contagious smile, joyous spirit, his love for family, friends, beloved pet’s, nature, and sports. Ken has certainly already asked Jesus to the Heavens Golf Course to play 18 holes.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life service in the weeks to come.

Someday I will see him draped in white robe.

Someday I will watch him ride into battle on his noble steed.

Someday I will experience him raise me up so I can stand on mountains.

Someday I will walk with him on stormy seas.

Someday I will see the pain in his hands and the soles of his feet, but, yet see the laughter, joy, & undying love in his eyes. Someday I will hear him say it’s time, and finally live for eternity.
