Obituary

Karl A. Schaeflein, age 84, of Matteson, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.

 

Karl is the loving husband to Helen; beloved father to the late Karl, Matthew (Diane), David (Deborah), Paul (Edie), Christopher (Kathy), Lorraine (Jim) Faoro, Henry (Karen), Virginia (Reggie) Zeigler; proud grandfather to Nicole (Christopher), Matthew, Jessica (Michael), Rachel (Guy), Mitchell (Holly), Kelsey, Troy, Teresa, Kate, Laura, Margo, Karl; great-grandfather to Guy and Penelope; he was preceded in the death by his parents and six siblings.

 

He and his wife Helen enjoyed traveling. They traveled to all 50 states and managed to golf in 49 of those states. He was known to have his hands in the dirt year round.

 

Visitation will be Friday, March 19, 2021 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Brady-Gill Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort. He will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery. People wishing to visit with the family are encouraged to RSVP a time to guarantee a time to visit with the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made towards Karl's personal website for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
