Charles M. Hughes, age 80, beloved husband of Susan (Maloney) for 58 and a half years, passed away peacefully with family by his side, December 26, 2020.
Loving son of the late Jack and Helen (Malloy) Hughes; Proud father to Maureen (Dan) Wood, Dan (Ellen Smith) Hughes, Patrick (Jennifer Shaulis) Hughes; Papa to Sarah (Adam) Valentine, Ellen Sanderson, Jack, Mary Kathleen Rae, Elizabeth, Liam, and Declan Hughes; Great Papa to Hunter, Taylor, and Connor Valentine; Brother to John Hughes, Arlene (late Ace) Salinas, Bob (Ellen Foy) Hughes, Shirley (Frank) Moran, Jim (Irene Young) Hughes, and Tom (Mary Scott) Hughes; Loving son-in-law to Emmett and Margaret (Hanrahan) Maloney; Brother-in-law to the late John (Benji Bernal) Maloney, Tom (Mary Ellen Fey) Maloney, and Robert Maloney; Proud uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was an Army veteran, avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox fan, and a retiree of Marshall Field & Company and William Wood-Prince Family.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Brady-Gill Funeral Home of Tinley Park, 16600 S Oak Park Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Masks and social distancing are required. Please RSVP a guarantee time for visiting. Private family funeral services will be conducted. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 0953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Special Olympics Area 7, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in lieu of flowers.
