Amanda Marie Salik, age 99, of Tinley Park, IL passed away peacefully on November 19, 2020.
Amanda is the loving wife to the late Walter Salik; devoted mother to the late Rosemunda (the late Horst) Meniw, Marguerita (Bill) Skala, and Walter Salik Jr.; grandmother to Mike Meniw, Melissa Napoli, Anthony Skala, and Jessica Skala; great grandmother to Zackery, Allana, Giovana, Nicole, Daniel, T.J. and Addison; beloved daughter to the late Johann and Margareta Fath; cherished sister to Andreas Fath, Klara Wetzel, Erhard Fath, Elizabeth Fecher, and Godfred Fath.
Amanda and her husband immigrated to the United States from Germany, entering through Ellis Island in 1950. During World War II she worked for her family business in Germany at their flower shop. She also became a talented seamstres. She and her husband were also insistent to keeping German traditions alive and still spoke German in the home. Amanda was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed gardening with her husband, Walter. After she raised her children, she enjoyed being a caretaker for other children.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Brady-Gill Funeral Home (16600 S. Oak Park Ave.; Tinley Park, IL 60477). Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 12:00 noon at St. George Catholic Church (6707 175th St, Tinley Park, IL 60477). She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. Due to tier 3 restrictions a limited number of people are allowed at the funeral home at one time, masks and social distancing are required.
