Art and I came on board the Brinkley Bass together as 3/c gunnersmates. We stayed together till I left in Feb.47.We were "runing mates"meaning we went on liberty together. We even went to the brig together. We remained in touch while living in Chicago.Your folks made a stop here on the way to Florida some time back.Art came to the BB reunion in 2001 in KY.and we were disappoined that he did not attend the last one.

Art was a very special shipmate to those who served with him and those who met him later at the USS Renshaw reunions. He was able to join us for so many years and we always looked forward to a visit with him.

I had the honor of meeting and talking with your father at several reunions of the USS Renshaw. I served aboard Renshaw during Vietnam and am the historian for our reunion group. Even though we served many years apart in Renshaw we'd have a new "sea stories" for each other every year. I'll miss him greatly and am fortunate to have known him. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Rie and Karen, I am so sorry I could not attend your dad's funeral today; I wish I had been able to.
