Joseph Balos

Joseph Balos Joe Balos...Age 81...Passed away suddenly at his home of a heart attack on Thursday evening July 8, 2004 with his devoted wife of 52 years Claire nee Kolodziej at his side. He was the loving dad to Collette (Douglas) Grothe, Rene (David Maslar) and extremely proud grandpa of Amy and Katie Maslar...This honorable and gentile man emigrated from Poland after World War II and settled in Chicago and raised a family. He retired in 1990 after 30 years of service at Vinyl-Weld International Co. where he designed and manufactured plastic products that are a part of all of our daily lives. After retirement he became Grandpa Joe and took care of his loving granddaughters. He enjoyed reading three daily newspapers, watching CNN, news programs, and being well informed on world politics. He was an avid nature lover and enjoyed his time in parks, his lovely backyard, and at The Botanical Gardens. His entire life was devoted to his wife, his daughters and his granddaughters. Although he suffered several hardships at an early age he always remained steadfast in his Catholic faith and maintained a positive outlook towards all he endured in life. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, quick-witted, kind, generous and good man. He will remain forever in the hearts of all who met him. A memorial mass will take place in his honor at a later date. Services and Interment Private...
