Michael J. O'Keefe

Michael J. O’Keefe, affectionately known as MO, passed away peacefully July 29, 2017. Mike began his life May 4, 1951, born to the William and Geraldine (nee Peifer) O’Keefe of Wilmette, IL. Mike was a long time resident of Gurnee, IL where he shared his life with Anita Morris. Together they shared a love of the outdoors, the North Woods, gardening, and their Labradors. Mike retired from the Operating Engineers Local 150. Mike had a deep love and respect of family and friends, he was a kind hearted, fun loving soul who enjoyed going to Oshkosh Air Show, building model air planes and flying them. Mike always rode a motorcycle, loved boating, collecting Dinky Toys, restoring tractors and small engines. Mike is preceded in death by both parents; a younger brother John, his dog Weber, and cat Smokey Joe. Mike’s kind soul will be mourned by his life partner Anita Morris, Wyle his dog, Pat (Bruce) Ukockis, Dennis (Mary Jo Barrett) O’Keefe, Nancy (Tom) Rostkowski, Ken (Sue) O’Keefe, and Sharon (Gary Listander) O’Keefe, 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 5 great nieces, 3 great nephews and many lifelong friends. Family and friends will meet at St. Damian Church, 5250 W. 155th St. Oak Forest, IL 60452. on Saturday morning August 5, 2017 for a celebration of Mike’s life. Visitation 11:00am – 12 noon. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Private Interment will be with his parents at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Brady-Gill Funeral Home, Tinley Park, IL.
