Gregory (Greg) was the oldest of four children (Gregory, Donald, Patricia, Thomas) and last surviving member of the Cleveland Carl and Anne Bewley family. He enjoyed glee club and theater at Rhodes High School and subsequently served in the United States Army after graduation from August 1952 to July 1954. After eight weeks of Basic training at Camp Gordon, Georgia (Augusta), he was transferred to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey (Red Bank) for Signal Corp Training and was then assigned to 7th Army, 28th Infantry Division, Signal Company at Goppingen, Germany. Upon returning home to Cleveland, he met the love of his life Katherine Klika whom he married in 1956. While Katherine worked as a nurse, he attended the Ohio State University, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor in Science degree, regarding himself a Buckeye ever since. He and Katherine nurtured their faith and marriage-life by making a Cursillo and, after having six children (Gregory, Timothy, Kevin, Mark, Michael, Kathleen), Greg accepted a transfer in 1970 from Reliance Electric to the Southwest suburbs of Chicago, where they had their seventh child (Maureen). It is here where he and Katherine joined Oak Forest's St. Damian parish where he's served the St. Vincent DePaul society and various ministries, including being a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Cantor, Choir and Funeral choir member. He and Katherine's couple's mission statement "I Am for You", spread to others as he selflessly shared his talents with those around him and especially to those in need. In the 1970's, Greg and Katherine brought the Search for Christian Maturity program from Cleveland to the Archdiocese of Chicago; continuing to commit their lives to serving others. Through the support of his family, parish, and the Cursillo movement and his endless capacity of loving the Lord, he and Katherine taught teens and others to love themselves and see themselves as Christ does; guiding and mentoring thousands of teens to a deeper Christian Maturity. In 1985 he and Katherine traveled to Derry in Northern Ireland with dozens of teens and Spiritual Directors to put on a Search weekend. The Search program continues to this day throughout the U.S. and in Ireland.

We extend our sincere sympathy on the death of your beloved father. He had a wonderful life, was blessed with beautiful children and a loving wife, and so many people who were inspired by his talents and goodness. We were blessed to have known him through my cousins, the Panek family. May Greg rest in peace. Love and prayers, Chris and Susan
