The Buttny Family 11-09-2013 19:08

Our Cousin, Darlene, was a decade older than us, Lou and Marilyn. When we were all young, holidays were with all of our cousins. How we enjoyed the holidays!!!! The holiday gatherings had a tradition which our Uncle the priest, Fr. Louis Gracz, had established that the children give a spotlight performance with the reward being a coin or two. I seem to recall poems, but I can't even remember what I had performed over all those years. However, what we can vividly remember is Darlene performing operatic songs for her performance. She also sang at events, and Lou immediately mentioned Ave Maria which she sang for religious celebrations.

Darlene was a devoted daughter and also catered to her Uncle, Fr. Louis.

We had searched the family albums for pictures of our cousin. We found two which would be pivotal in our memories to attach to the guest book. One was a picture of the Rytlewski family on the steps of Five Holy Martyrs the day our parents were married. What a nice looking family the four made! The other picture was of Darlene singing into a microphone with sheet music in her hand, and we are certain that the song was Ave Maria. Unfortunately, this guest book does not allow photos to be uploaded.

We will stop and visit with you, Darlene, when we make our trips to Resurrection. Our lives pass much too quickly; rest in peace, Cousin. We envision you now just as that picture we have of you singing with sheet music in hand, singing into the microphone Ave Maria, and your voice will be as beautiful as we remember it was. Ironically many of our dear family members will be there cheering you on just as decades before.

My deepest sympathy upon Darlene's death.
It's a shame that through the years' we didn't stay in contact, however, we remember years' back when the family all did get together for holidays and special occasions. It was wonderful to have all the family gathering with the Gracz sisters, brothers, their spouses and siblings. Fr. Louis was the one who kept them all together and Darlene was especially dear to him. May she rest in peace.
