Bob was one of the most amazing and wonderful people I have known in my lifetime. He came up from the south as a teenager with nothing and created a life for himself. He taught himself electronics, mathematics, and television repair, and was able to get Zenith to allow him to sell to sets on consignment. From that he created his own business that supported his family right through his retirement. He started with nothing but his great intelligence, ethical values, and unrelenting determination. He learned the guitar, carpentry, and how to build or repair anything. When audited by the IRS he studied the law and defended himself in court with no lawyer and won. He was fearless and earned everything he had including the love of his wife, six children, and grandchildren. Bob was a man you could trust to do anything he said he would do and do it well. He became like a father to me when I moved onto Seipp Street next door to Bob and family when I was a junior in high school. We had many long philosophical discussions about the meaning of life that were very enlightening and meaningful to me. To lighten things up after deep though he would always laugh and end with remember Jim, "It all equals zero." After he retired and I was the general contractor on a large custom house he helped me out greatly by becoming the site foreman and did a fantastic job, I could not have done it without him. Bob was funny, friendly, and interesting. He built a marvelous close family structure that still thrives today. How many families build their houses adjacent to each other and love their daily interaction? I admire Bob greatly and think about him often. I have told my family and friends dozens of stories about Bob and they are always intrigued and fascinated. Bob was truly a great man in many many ways. We all miss him dearly.

I am Jessika's and Katie's Aunt and Tyler's Great Aunt. To Jim and Mat - I am so sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I had time to talk with him at Tyler's first birthday. He had a great sense of humor & I enjoyed visiting with him. I can see why you loved him so much. It was a blessing to have him in your family. Love Aunt Carol and Katie's and Jessika's entire family especially Nana(Mary Lou), Michele, and Julie.
