Claire B. Balos

Born: 1925     Died: 2011

Claire Balos, née Kolodziej, passed away on Tuesday March 29, 2011, with her family at her side. She was the devoted wife for 52 years of the late Joseph Balos, the loving mother of Collette (Douglas) Grothe and Rene (David Maslar) Balos, and extremely proud grandma of Amy and Katie Maslar. She gave 30 years of service to the Chicago Motor Club. Her entire life was dedicated to her husband, her daughters, and her beloved granddaughters. Claire's home was always filled with books, music, and laughter. Constantly in perpetual motion, Claire could whip up a batch of cookies, walk 4 miles a day, climb a ladder to clean out the gutters, black-top her driveway, and read her granddaughters countless books all in one graceful movement. No dandelion stood a chance on Claire's lawn. Although she suffered several hardships at an early age, she always remained steadfast in her Catholic faith and found solace in praying her rosary everyday. This strong, independent, generous, and selfless woman  stressed hard work, determination, and education as the best keys for success. She will be remembered as a remarkable woman who greatly influenced others through the example of her character and will remain in the hearts of all who met her. No one ever left Claire's home hungry; in her honor have a good cup of coffee, a piece of cheesecake, a kolachky or two, and remember our Claire. Services and interment private. Brady-Gill Funeral Home, Lemont (708) 614-9900 or www.bradygill.com.
