Robert was to me a kind and gentle person. He was the type of man that the term Gentleman meant.

We attended law school together down in the foreign land (to suburbanites) of Oklahoma, a hot, dry place, devoid of the Cubs or White Sox, Bulls or Bears, and Chicago-style hot dogs or White Castles.

In the years I knew him, I never saw him flustered, never saw him mad or heard him get angry. We all knew him as the guy with two pairs of glasses on his head.

Why? Well, I don't remember now.

Bob came down to Decatur to my wedding (or was it up from Texas, I forget now) and then I made it to his in Chicago, and loved every minute of it.

Bob, I know you had a nice family and they, and I, will miss you.

Goodbye old friend.
